California U Prep Academy (CUPA) is proud to announce a new academic opportunity for high school students passionate about mathematics: the 2025 Fall Linear Algebra course, co-hosted with Orange County Academy (OCA)and custom-designed in collaboration with UCLA Extension. This advanced-level course allows students to earn official UCLA undergraduate credits while deepening their understanding of college-level mathematics.

About the Course

Linear Algebra is a foundational subject in higher mathematics and is widely applied in fields such as physics, computer science, economics, and engineering. The course will introduce students to:

  • Vector spaces and matrices

  • Systems of linear equations

  • Eigenvalues and eigenvectors

  • Applications in real-world modeling and machine learning

The course is designed to match the rigor and expectations of a first-year undergraduate course at UCLA. Students will receive instruction from qualified faculty trained by UCLA Extension, and all learning outcomes align with UCLA’s credit standards.

Why This Matters

Many ambitious high school students complete AP Calculus BC as early as 11th grade, leaving few options to continue their mathematical growth. This course fills that gap—offering a real academic challenge and a head start on college credit.

“This is more than just an advanced math class—it’s a chance for students to prove they are ready for the depth and pace of college-level learning,” said a CUPA academic advisor.

Who Can Join

  • CUPA and OCA students are both eligible to enroll.

  • Students who have completed AP Calculus BC (or equivalent) by Fall 2025 are encouraged to apply.

  • CUPA students will also have access to on-campus academic enrichment, including a newly formed Math Circle Club, where they can explore problem-solving beyond the classroom and prepare for future competitions or research opportunities.

Enrollment and Credits

  • The course will run during the Fall 2025 semester.

  • Students who successfully complete the course will receive transferable UCLA Extension credits, which may count toward future undergraduate degree programs (subject to institution policies).

What This Means for the Future

This course is part of CUPA’s ongoing mission to bridge the gap between high school and college academics—preparing students not just to get into top universities, but to thrive once they’re there.

Applications will open in Summer 2025. More details about eligibility and enrollment will be available on the CUPA and OCA websites.
